This is the template for the infobox for a [[wiktionary:Song|song]] article. If the song has been released as one of the [[A-side and B-side]] of a [[wiktionary:Single|single]], use the [[Template:Infobox single]] instead. The box to the right is an example with some of the most common parameters. The code below can be copied and completed with information pertaining to song articles.

== Parameters ==
Unless otherwise stated here, refer to [[Template:Infobox single#Parameters]] for guidelines on how to use parameters that it shares with this infobox.

===Name===
The title of the song is required. If the title is not in English, the translation may be included in the <code>English_title</code> field.

===Cover===
An image of the sheet music cover, etc. may be displayed if one has been first uploaded. Enter the file name only into the field: <code><Image Name>.jpg</code>. See [[Wikipedia:Uploading images]] for details. This will automatically produce the caption <code><"Song"> cover</code> beneath the image if the <code>Caption</code> field is not used.

===Caption===
Using this field will defeat the automatically produced <code><"Song"> cover</code> when the <code>Cover</code> field is used.

===Type===
Use this field to add something more descriptive than "Song" (default), such as "[[Instrumental]]" or "[[Musical composition|Composition]]". This is not used for genre or form, which are described in the <code>Genre</code> and <code>Form</code> fields.

===EP===
If the song was first released on an EP or [[Extended play]], add the EP name in this field. Both Album ''and'' EP will not show in the infobox – the <code>Album</code> field will override the <code>EP</code> field.

===Written===
The year the song was written, if discussed in the article. This is usually used for songs written before the advent of sheet music publishing or music recording.

===Published===
The year the song was [[Music publisher (popular music)|published]], if discussed in the article. This is usually used for [[Music publisher (sheet music)|sheet music published]] before the rise of music recording.

===Form===
The [[musical form]] of the song, e.g. strophic form, ternary form, etc. When linking, omit "form", i.e., [[Strophic form|Stropic]], [[Ternary form|Ternary]]. The form must be referenced in the article and not be [[WP:OR|orignial research]]. This field is not used for genre or format, which are described in the <code>Genre</code> and <code>Format</code> fields.

===Writer===
Use this field if the music ''and'' lyrics were written by one person or, in the case of multiple writers, where a separate lyricist and composer have not been clearly identified by a [[WP:RS|reliable source]]. Do not use this field if the <code>Composer</code> and <code>Lyricist</code> fields are used.

===Composer===
The person(s) who composed the song's music, if different than the lyricist. If not differentiated in the article, use the <code>Writer</code> field instead.

===Lyricist===
The person(s) who wrote the lyrics, if different than the song's composer. If not differentiated in the article, use the <code>Writer</code> field instead.

===Language===
If the song is not in English, indicate the language. The <code>English_title</code> field may include a translation of the song title.
