James McNew is an American musician. He has been the bass player for the indie rock band Yo La Tengo since their 1992 album, May I Sing with Me.[1]
He was previously a member of Christmas on their third album Vortex.[2] He also has a solo side project, Dump.[1]
The documentary The Parking Lot Movie highlighted McNew's career as a parking lot attendant in Charlottesville, Virginia, prior to his career as a musician.
Involvement with Mark Eitzel
McNew played bass on "Goodbye", "Queen Of No One", "Cold Light Of Day" and "Go Away" from Mark Eitzel's 1998 album Caught In A Trap And I Can't Back Out 'Cause I Love You Too Much, Baby.
